About me

Hello! I’m Bulut Hamali. I have a Ph.D. and 13 years of experience working with data in a biological research environment, with a profound passion for genomics, proteomics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. My programming adventure began two decades ago with JavaScript for web development, which gradually pivoted towards the fascinating fields of bioinformatics and molecular biology. Holding a Ph.D. in Molecular Signal Transduction from the Medical University of Vienna, I have spent the last fourteen years integrating computational analysis with wet lab research—making me quite the hybrid specialist!

I excel in programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL, and I am adept at using bioinformatics platforms like Bioconductor and Biopython.

Purpose of this Blog

This blog is both a personal journal of my bioinformatics journey and a shared learning platform. My goal is to provide a resource for beginners in bioinformatics, offering clear answers and guidance. I am inspired by the idea that our true legacy is not what we physically leave behind, but the impact we have on others. This belief is echoed in the words of Sinan, an Ottoman poet and architect, who said, ‘What remains in the dome is a pleasant echo,’ and by Pericles, who noted, ‘What we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.’ These insights drive me to create a blog that helps others and makes a lasting, positive impact.

Connect with Me

I enjoy the meticulous process of writing technical documents; it deepens my understanding of our field’s tools and challenges while effectively sharing knowledge.
